Information about environmental initiatives in the parish
In 2019, following a public meeting, Hanley Castle Parish Council committed to work towards achieving carbon neutrality in the Parish. The ‘Hanley Carbon Neutral’ group was set up to help achieve this goal, within which five teams were created working on Energy, Habitats, Trees, Transport and Procurement. This has since become the ‘Hanleys Environment Group’ (HEG) under which work continues through a variety of initiatives including enhancing biodiversity in our verges, planting more trees to capture carbon, making plastic-free items available and more affordable through group purchasing.
